Krishna Mandir Tabla Class
The Krishna Mandir Tabla Class started in 1997 with only two students. Today, it has grown to nearly fifty plus students. The class was initiated by Mr. Ramnarine Rampersad and Mr. Yattin Rampersad, without their ongoing support this class would not have been possible.
The aim of the class is to ensure that pupils attending class gain adequate knowledge of Tabla that will enable them to contribute to society, i.e being able to play in mandir, mosque and other functions where tabla is needed.
This is evident since a number of the students can be seen on national television and have won numerous music competitions in Trinidad.

Class Type
Beginning Fundamental study of the tabla. This will include its history in the North Indian traditions, the spoken language (oral tradition), learning basic strokes and foundation compositions.
Intermediate Students will build on their fundamental knowledge of tabla.
Advanced The Indian philosophy of Guru-Shisha Param-Para (the direct transmission of knowledge from teacher to student) is never ending and on-going through one's life as a musician. As the standard of tabla playing increases to this level, so does the mindset of the student. The term advanced or professional becomes relative as one is constantly humbled before the depth of the ocean that represents this art form.
